STATE OF WASHINGTON <br />County of Jefferson <br />AN ORDINANCE APPROVING ONE <br />COMPREHENSIVE PLAN AMENDMENT <br />KNOWN AS MLA10-00073 [Miles Sand & <br />Gravel Company -Mineral Resource Land <br />Overlayl TO ESTABLISH AN 18 -ACRE <br />MRLO <br />} <br />} ORDINANCE NO. 08-1213-10 <br />} <br />} <br />} <br />} <br />WHEREAS, the Board of Jefferson County Commissioners ("the Board") has, <br />as required by the Growth Management Act, as codified at RCW 36.70A.010 et seq., <br />set in motion and now completed the proper professional review and public notice and <br />comment with respect to any and all proposed amendments to the County's <br />Comprehensive Plan originally adopted by Resolution No. 72-98 on August 28, 1998 <br />and as subsequently amended and; <br />WHEREAS, as mandated by the Growth Management Act (GMA), the Board <br />has reviewed and voted upon the proposed amendment to the County's Comprehensive <br />Plan (CP), and; <br />WHEREAS, in accordance with RCW 78.44, the legislature recognizes that the <br />extraction of minerals by surface mining is an essential activity making an important <br />contribution to the economic well-being of the state and nation. The legislature also <br />finds that a balance between appropriate environmental regulation and the production <br />and conservation of minerals is in the best interests of the citizens of the state. <br />WHEREAS, the proposed amendment known as MLA 10-00073 [Miles Sand & <br />Gravel Company -Mineral Resource Land Overlay Designation] to the extent of 18 - <br />acres has been approved by the Board during the second week of December as <br />required in the Jefferson County Code (JCC) 18.45.080(2)(d). <br />
