<br />The Board of Jefferson County COl~lissioners met on the above named date and hour
<br />with all members present. Arthur C. Boren, Chairman, Hugh H:l.sbet and Berti1 Kruse,
<br />members.
<br />Minutes of the April session were read and approved.
<br />RESOLUTION NO "B"44. signed
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, the perioe'!. of cold weather caused abnorman damaee to the rOads of
<br />Jefferson County, and
<br />WHEREAS, it is deemed necesso.ry to manui'acture suitable plant mix material
<br />for repa~r of said roads,
<br />WHEREAS, the estimated sost of said project is $1200.00,
<br />BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED that the sum of ~;1200.00 be set aside from the County
<br />Road fund for the purpose aforesaid.

<br />A letter was received from Mr. Cross of the State Land office rel~; ti ve to a
<br />parcel of land on the Big Quilcene HiveI', requested put up for sple by a prospective
<br />buyer and which had been transferred to the Stete and in his lettel' Mr. Gross
<br />stated that he thought it would be unwise to sell the s!?r.le at this time and it
<br />wl)s thel'efore so ordered that tl.;',e purch.'.lscr be refundem the deposit he had made.

<br />Mr. DouglaS of the J.'.ilV/aul~ee land Company appeared before tl:e Board and
<br />requested that the Taxes which his company had p~id on Park Take land in the West
<br />End of the County, be returned :l_n the amount of ~~1048. 42 therefore the following
<br />resolution w~s signed:

<br />to the Treasurer of Jefferson County, Wash.,

<br />WI--:EREAS the tracts upon which the said t"xes were purported to be levied were
<br />by a "Declaration of Take" entered in the Federal District Court at Seattle, Wash.,
<br />July 1, 1940, made the property of the United States of America, and
<br />I. WHEHEAS spxd Passing of title occured prior to the levy of 1940 taxes b:;

<br />ill WI-!ERl'~AS this Board h(1s been ad'Jised by the Prosecuting: Attorney of Jefferson
<br />County that inasmuch as siad title had Passed prior to the date of tlle levy of
<br />! said taxes, Jeffe;:'son County could not possible collect taxes and that any receipt
<br />i of Same b~ any officer of safd county would be unlawful and beyond his powers and
<br />gi ve rise to a good claim against said county in be~,a1d of said Company,

<br />discussed and various figures were quoted, but no decision WaS arrived at.

<br />WHEREAS W.J. Buhler and J.J. Lafferty, both of Pt. Tovlnsend, WaS11., have paid
<br />taxes in the amount of Forty-five (~45.00) on the f~llowing described property:

<br />Plr.\t in Volume 1, of Plats, Page one, records of Jef/erson Co., Wash.
