SUBJECT: Representation to the Joint Growth Management Steering Committee
STATEMENT OF ISSUE:
County staff recommends the Board of County Commissioners interview Frances Rawski in
consideration of her letter of interest to be appointed to the Joint Growth Management Steering
Committee (JGMSC).
The Joint Growth Management Steering Committee is comprised of representative from the
County, the City of Port Townsend, the Port of Port Townsend and a citizen representative from the Port
Hadlock Urban Growth Area. The JGMSC is a forum for discussion among elected officials, citizen
representatives and the public regarding the implementation of the Growth Management Act in Jefferson
County.
On June 2, 2010 a public notice was included in the Port Townsend Leader requesting any
individual to submit a letter of interest to the County for the one citizen representative position on the
JGMSC. The County received one applicant, Frances Rawski.
ANALYSIS/STRATEGIC GOALS:
Citizen participation and involvement of this nature is consistent with the Jefferson County Strategic Plan
specifically goals and strategies dealing with Strong Communities and Public Engagement
FISCAL IMPACT/COST -BENEFIT ANALYSIS:
The staff work for advertisement and recruitment of this citizen representative along with the preparation
of this agenda request is covered by the annual approved budget for the Department of Community
Development.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends the BOCC interview Frances Rawski and consider appointing her to the JGMSC by
affirmative motion of the County Commissioners.
