Schembs, LEG Professional summary Mr. Schembs is a geologist/engineering geologist with more than 35 years of experience in the identification, characterization, and evaluation for soil and rock for geologic, geotechnical, and environmental investigations. This experience has been focused on critical areas assessments for home owners and builders, larger residential plats, commercial structures, transportation infrastructure, municipal waste disposal projects, landslide repair, and shoreline stabilization. Specific job requirements have included the planning of field and analytical investigation programs, implementation and management of the programs, presentation of the results of the investigation programs to clients, and construction QA/QC. Subsurface exploration experience includes drilling with hollow -stem auger, mud rotary, and rock coring. Construction monitoring experience includes conventional earthwork and mass grading, reinforced earthfill, gravity and MSE walls, Augercast pile, soldier pile, tie-backs, pin piles, stone columns, cement and bentonite admixtures, pressure grouting. Recent projects include Briggs Village development in Olympia; for the Harbor Hill Development and Olympic Town Center in Gig Harbor; and for the Canyon Crossing development in Pierce County. Critical Areas Assessment: Mr. Schembs has extensive experience with Critical Areas Assessments of potential geologic hazards. Specifically, Mr. Schembs focuses on potential landslide, erosion, shoreline erosion and stabilization, steep slope, and seismic hazard analyses. These assessments often included site reconnaissance, subsurface explorations, literature review, aerial photograph review, computer modeling (for slope stability and seismic liquefaction), and preparing written documents to satisfy various development and code requirements for local municipalities. These reports are completed for individual homeowners, builders/contractors, and developers.
