Summary of core skills
Geotechnical and Data Reporting:
Prepare reports consisting of drilling, laboratory test results, evaluation of subsurface conditions, bearing
capacity, foundation recommendations, and construction procedures including bearing capacity, drilled
pier, H-pile, sheet-pile, and slope stability design calculations; Structural load calculations including
references, design methods used, and presentation of design results packages.
RFPs and Bid Documents: Manage responses to Requests for Proposals (RFPs), authoring
proposals, preparing subcontracts, specifications, bid documents, and drawings; Reviewing and
evaluating change orders; Developing, managing, and reporting budgets; maintaining effective
client communication; acquiring new clients.
Engineering & Construction Cost Estimating: Conduct and participate in planning and pre-
construction meetings, site walkthroughs, review of tendering and CLASS III Cost Estimates, Risk
Register Workshops, obtaining local, municipal, and utility permits, working with First Nations, and
providing recommendations for contractor selection.
Seismic Site Evaluation: Using ASCE 7 Earthquake Design, Pacific Earthquake Engineering Research
Center (PEER) Ground Motion Database, NBCC 2020 and Earthquakes Canada: Developed
probabilistic site-specific seismic motion parameters for sites in accordance with National
Resources Canada for established return periods 10% probability chance of exceedance in 50
years (equivalent to 1 in 475-year event) and 2% probability of exceedance in 50 years (equivalent
to 1 in 2,475- year event) for all ground class motions for profiles using CPT and SPT investigation
methods.

Pile Driving Analyzer (PDA):
Conduct high strain dynamic load testing and pile driving monitoring during installation for
dynamic load testing on deep foundations. Field results are used in signal matching analyses to
determine bearing capacity, assess structural integrity of the pile, assess driving stresses and
hammer performance.
Field:
Supervise and conduct drilling, employing commercial drilling contractors; monitor, log, and classify soil
and rock samples in the field, employing liner, split-spoon, thin-walled Shelby tube, and core barrel
sampling, using hollow stem auger, wash-rotary drilling, piston sampling, and NX/NQ wireline techniques;
Field quality control for inclinometers, extensometers, tell-tales, ground monitoring points, and structure
monitoring points; rock grouting, monitoring-well installation, sheeting installation, pile driving, tunnel and
shaft construction, tunnel jacking, braced excavation, and foundation construction. Performed nuclear
testing for soil and pavement density using nuclear density gauges; field concrete cylinder preparation at
jobs sites, curing lab preparation, and compressive strength testing in accordance with CSA A283 -19; Field
and laboratory testing employing nuclear densometers and sieve analyses; Construction, and QA/QC
engineering during construction.
