PROCLAMATION re: Proclaiming Recognition of Olympic Peninsula Senior
Games on August 27-29, 2010
STATEMENT OF ISSUE:
The City of Port Angeles has requested approval of the proclamation recognizing the Senior Games on
August 27-29,2010.
RECOMMENDATION:
Approve Proclamation re: Recognizing the Olympic Peninsula Senior Games on August 27-29,2010.

PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, the Olympic Peninsula Senior Games will be held on August 27
through 29, 2010; and
WHEREAS, the Olympic Peninsula Senior Games is a competitive sporting
event for people 50 years old and above; and
WHEREAS, this is the sixth (6) year of the Olympic Peninsula Senior Games;
and
WHEREAS, over 450 senior athletes are expected to participate; and
WHEREAS, the Senior Games offer 20 sports, and 70 events, over three (3) days
in August; and
WHEREAS, participants in the Olympic Peninsula Senior Games value fitness
as a lifestyle and dedicate themselves to breaking down the stereotypes of aging; and
WHEREAS, Jefferson County pays tribute to the achievements and contributions
of athletes 50 years old and above;
NOW, THEREFORE, the Jefferson County Board of Commissioners hereby
proclaim August 27 - 29, 2010, as

and welcome all participants and spectators attending this event on the Olympic Peninsula.
