Demolition of old US 101 Elwha River Bridge underway
Expect occasional flagging on the roadway, Elwha River diversion
PORT ANGELES – Travelers should take note that work has resumed on US 101 near the Elwha River Bridge <https://links-1.govdelivery.com/CL0/https:%2F%2Fwsdot.wa.gov%2Fconstruction-planning%2Fsearch-pr

Demolition and removal of the old bridge has begun. Work will generally take place off the roadway, but travelers may see occasional flagging on US 101 as trucks enter and exit the work
zone.
During the course of the demolition, the Elwha River will be diverted to the east while crews work on the other side. Once that side is complete, the river will be diverted to the west.
River rafters and recreationalists should take note of this as they prepare for their activities on the river.

is the final phase of the project and is expected to finish this fall.
