Water Quality Improvement and Maintenance Activities
STATEMENT OF ISSUE: Presentation of a project to include work in Jefferson and
Clallam County Clean Water Districts, Health Departments and Conservation Districts to
protect and improve local water quality. This project includes partners and funding to
Jefferson County Environmental Health, Jefferson County Conservation District, Cla11am
County Public Health, Cla11am Conservation District all working toward the vision ofPuget
Sound Partnership.
ANALYSIS: This project involves tasks by each of the partners that will result in protection
of and improvement in water quality for homeowners in each jurisdiction. It involves direct
assistance to property owners through low interest loans (Clallam County), septic system
monitoring inspection classes and incentives for homeowners (Jefferson County), farm. plans
and installation of waste management tools (Jefferson County andCla11am Conservation
Districts) as well as many other elements to assist property owners in learning about and
taking care of their waste products.
FISCAL IMPACT: Each partner is responsible for matching funds for their portion of the
contracts. JCPH will be the lead fiscal agent negotiating contracts.
RECOMMENDATION: Informational- no decision requested.
