Washington state's proposed rule to protect streams critical to salmon are under attack from big timber.
Streams that form the headwaters for our most important salmon habitat––Type Np streams––need bigger buffers to protect water quality from increased temperatures. Don't let big timber
block or weaken these rules. Fight back.

Dear John,
The Forest Practices Board is considering long-overdue protection for streams in Washington forests that form the headwaters for our most important salmon habitat. These streams, known
as Type Np streams, run year-round and flow directly into waters that support fish.
This proposed rule, which would increase buffers to keep stream temperatures cool––essential for our fish downstream, is under serious threat. Timber industry groups are working to weaken
or block the rule. We must fight back.

Washington has a chance to lead by adopting strong, science-based rules that reflect our values and protect what matters most. Take a moment to let the Forest Practices Board they need
