This cycling event is our largest in-person fundraising event and will tour 7 local lavender farms around the Sequim area. The Olympic Discovery Trail, as you’ll read in the enclosed report, is also a powerful economic engine on the North Olympic Peninsula. Thousands of visitors come to the peninsula each year to enjoy the trail and also participate in the multitude of recreational events that take place annually along our linear park. We’re proud of the work that our local governments, tribes, businesses, and nonprofit organization’s do each year to make our home—and the Olympic Discovery Trail—an inviting and welcoming destination. Steve is the Director of Public Works with the City of Port Townsend. He will provide information about the Active Transportation Plan update that is underway and recent grant successes. Additionally, the City will discuss several planning studies that will improve active transportation including the extensions of the Olympic Discovery Trail. Of note will be changes underway at Boat Haven and plans for the ferry terminal area. This is a public meeting and all are invited. Connecting our Trail Towns (Port Ludlow, Quilcene, Chimacum, Port Hadlock) to the Olympic Discovery Trail from the Hood Canal Bridge to Discovery Bay is a priority.
