UPDATED: Trial Court Public Defense Dashboard
The information portrayed below shows data that has been collected by the Office of Public Defense (OPD) on county trial court public defense services expenditures statewide between
2010-2023. OPD is statutorily required to disburse state-appropriated funds to counties and cities for the purpose of improving the quality of trial court public defense services. In
order for counties to get their pro rata share of state funding, as set forth in RCW 10.101.060, counties must conform to application procedures established by OPD and improve the quality
of services for both juveniles and adults.

Sign-On Period for Cities, Counties to Join Recent Opioid Settlements Has Begun
The Attorney General s Office started today a sign-on process for city and county governments across Washington to join recent opioid settlements of up to $122.2 million with Purdue
Pharma and eight generic opioid manufacturers.
City and county governments have until Sept. 30 to sign onto the Purdue Pharma settlement. While there is no deadline currently set for the eight generic opioid manufacturers, the Attorney
General s Office recommends all eligible cities and counties concurrently sign on to each settlement by Sept. 30. Governments must sign one document for the Purdue settlement, eight
documents for the generic manufacturers, and one allocation agreement document that applies to all nine settlements.

Thurston County Fix-It Fair Wins NACo Achievement Award
Last Fall Thurston County partnered with the Lacey MakerSpace to host a community repair event in which volunteers fixed residents damaged textiles, household items, small appliances,
tools, bicycles, and jewelry for free. The event kept 387 pounds from being discarded in the landfill, bringing a host of treasures back from the brink. The joy and gratitude expressed
by attendees continues to boost our interest in hosting more volunteer-powered events! This award is one of many accolades LMS is happy to cheer about as our ability to foster connection

Skagit County Commissioner Lisa Janicki has announced she will retire at the end of 2025 after 11 years of serving as County Commissioner for District 3. Janicki was first elected to
