HomeMy WebLinkAbout080725 - Fwd_ Adolphsen’s grain group buy_ALERT: BE CAUTIOUS This email originated outside the organization. Do not open attachments or click on links if you are not expecting them. Good morning, Growers. Please see the response below from Keith Kisler regarding feed grain: In response to the recent post about the feed grain purchase: Interesting timing as I had been talking with Doyle this spring about his feed grain set up. I also reached out to Gene Adolfson to confirm that he would still be able to continue supplying grain if I were to reinvigorate the self-serve animal feed program. (Gene is a long-standing farmer in Sequim that grows a diversity of things, including feed grains — mostly barley). I have been reorganizing space at the barn on Center Road where I lease land to grow grain. My goal is to offer organic feed grain, likely in limited quantities, along with the conventionally grown grain from Sequim, like Doyle did. I’ve got storage bins with slide gates to make it easy to fill buckets, etc., a forklift, and a flatbed truck for hauling and moving totes around. I would try to offer the same type of grain at a similar markup to what Doyle was offering. My goal is to have it set up by September 1 but if the timing is more urgent than I can probably get a load sooner. Just reach out to me. I’ll post an update when I have the system ready and I’m happy to discuss local needs. To: <jeffcogrowers@gmail.com <mailto:jeffcogrowers@gmail.com> > Hi all! I was wondering if people would want to go in on a group buy of bulk grain from Adolphsen’s in Sequim? I used to pick up grain from Doyle, and that’s where he got his grain. I do not have the means to purchase totes straight out but could split the cost if a few people wanted to join in. I unfortunately don’t have a vehicle that could pick up the totes, but could talk to my landlord about potentially housing them for folks to come pick up their portions if there isn’t a better location. I figured I’d worry about that once I found out if anyone was interested in the first place. Thanks! Ren
