OUTREACH
Call to Artists and Poets
Using social media, local media, direct outreach, and
partnerships, we will outline the parameters of the project and
assess the number of interested artists and poets. This will
enable us to assign panels effectively and gauge the scale of
the event, ensuring that the County, the City of PT, volunteers
and the community know what to expect in preparation.
Volunteer Engagement
Through the same channels, we will assemble a volunteer corps to
support and coordinate with artists, help to educate and involve the
public, make sure artwork adheres to guidelines and intentions are
honored and followed. This core of volunteers will also do logistical
support during the creation of the mural.
Workshops and Education
Pre-event workshops will provide artists with guidance on
techniques, project parameters, and brainstorming. These
sessions will emphasize nonviolent communication and artistic
expression, fostering a positive creative environment.
PROJECT
SCOPE
AND
LOGISTICS
•We have counted at least 80 panels on the
fence that could be platforms for artwork.
We will coordinate with the county to utilize
these panels for artistic expression. We will
also work with the county to identify areas
that will not be included in the project for
safety or accessibility reasons.
•We will establish a sign-up and submissions
portal to inform volunteer project managers
and allocate spaces based on size and safety.
Last-minute participants will be
accommodated as much as possible,
ensuring compliance with guidelines.
To ensure a safe and inclusive environment, the following
content parameters will be fixed:
•No hate speech, profanity, political campaigning, advertising, or
religious slandering
•Encourage respect and integrity in all artistic expressions
•As this is an all-inclusive invitation to our community of creatives, all
folks are welcome to participate, given content parameters are
respected. Guidelines are created in respect for community, city and
county code.
•Guidelines will be regulated by submissions via the sign-up process
and will be monitored by volunteers during the event .

The Outsiders Street Art Project
is an opportunity for Port
Townsend and Jefferson County to
to celebrate the artistic
community, amplify local artists
voices and foster unity through
diverse creative expression.
By providing a platform for various
voices, it enhances public spaces
and builds community pride.
Though a temporary project, it can
create a lasting impact on the
town’s cultural landscape.
Let's demonstrate, illuminate, and
call forward the full presence of our
artists' community, speaking to the
"WE ARE HERE" piece of our
infamous Port Townsend bumper
sticker: "we are all here because
we're not all there."

ADDITIONAL CONSIDERATIONS
Coordination with County Parks & Rec : consider potential obstacles or
requirements from the Parks and Recreation maintenance crew and integrate these
into project planning.
**Due Diligence and Support **

consider to help move OSAP forward.

- Film documentation will serve as community keepsake for first collaborative art project
- Documentation complements Port Townsend Film Festival spirit
- Addresses concerns due to project's ephemeral nature

Logistical Considerations
~Parking concerns: Downtown parking will be limited during film festival
period - requires planning and alternative solutions
~In the event that the project will take place during PTFF, facilities will already
be in place for an event.
~Given that the project will be approved for Sept 19-21, will need to consult
with PT. Police Dept.
*Compliance and Adjustments: any overlooked suggestions and codes in
compliance with county and city regulations will be considered and
integrated into this proposal. *Fundraising: a GoFundMe campaign may be
initiated to fund essentials like garbage bags and tape for sectioning
painted/painting areas if recommended by the city.
