The budget is a big part of the ‘inside the box’ nature of this work. That said, we get to help define the box and are able to make changes in our budget setting and budget review processes
each year. We are about to start our mid-biennium review for 2023.

PRIORITY: Affordable Housing & Homelessness
OlyCap’s 7ᵗʰ Haven Project: 43 Units of transitional and supportive housing
OlyCap’s Caswell Brown Project:
50 units of shelter for unhoused neighbors
Habitat’s Mason Street Project in Pt Hadlock:
150+ units of permanently affordable housing
Habitat for Humanity Landes Street Project

Last Spring, Jefferson Community Foundation (JCF) and Habitat for Humanity of East Jefferson County collaborated to evaluate the purchase of a 17-acre parcel of land in Port Hadlock
dedicated to permanently affordable, mixed-income, workforce housing.
May 2022, Habitat EJC purchased the land which has the potential for 150+ homes for working families.

New technology - modular treatment plant
Pressurized sewer mains = smaller pipes & shallow excavation
Phase 1 has capacity for 446 ERUs
Smaller core area and interested landowners
Decreased initial project cost significantly
Still need to find $10-15 Million of Grants to be affordable
Costs to landowner: hook up, LID, grinder pump, monthly bill
Increase density in more affordable area for housing
Opportunity for Commercial Development and jobs
Reduce the number of septic systems near shoreline
