US 101 near Amanda Park reopens in Grays Harbor County following water over the roadway
QUEETS – There’s good news to share for people traveling US 101 along Washington’s coastline in Grays Harbor County. At 4:50 p.m., contractor crews working for the Washington State Department
of Transportation reopened US 101 north of Amanda Park and Lake Quinault.
The road was closed during the evening on Friday, Aug. 15, after heavy rains overwhelmed several construction sites. This resulted in water over the roadway and erosion in temporary
work zones.

site, the contractor has streams diverted through pipes while working in the streambeds.
During the storm, crews brought in extra pumps to help remove the water over the roadway. However, heavy rainfall overwhelmed the equipment. Crews worked through the night and assessed
the sites once the water receded. One of the sites required repairs that have now been completed.
