EXPERIENCE
Stratum Group - Bellingham, Washington (June 2017 to present)
Licensed Engineering Geologist- Geoff has completed hundreds of geologic hazard, geotechnical, and
stormwater management assessments throughout NW Washington and the Puget Sound region. His work
experience includes a variety of geologic hazards including landslides, coastal erosion, alluvial fans, rock
fall, channel migration, and coal mine subsidence. He has also completed a critical areas code rewrite for
the City of Duvall, produced landslide and erosion hazard maps, aided in forest practice application
reviews, and completed Phase I environmental site assessments.
Western Washington University- Bellingham, Washington (September 2014-May 2017)
Instructor and Teaching Assistant- During his time as a graduate student as WWU, Geoff was an
instructor for ArcGIS in Geology as well as a Teaching Assistant for Engineering Geology, Structural
Geology, Field Mapping and Methods, and introductory-level courses.
His master’s studies focused on geomorphology and engineering geology as related to landslides and
slope stability. His graduate coursework in applied geology and master’s thesis on a large bedrock
landslide complex in Whatcom County, Washington brings valuable experience and perspective to
Stratum Group.
RECENT PROJECT EXPERIENCE:
Cohousing Project-Port Townsend, WA (Fall 2024)
Completed a geotechnical and stormwater soils assessment for a multi-unit cohousing development that
includes trails, public recreation and gathering spaces, a parking lot, and an extended driveway.
Coordinated with civil engineers and architects to allow for a layout of the site that maximizes the natural
character of the site while avoiding geotechnical and drainage issues.
Residential Redevelopment on Chuckanut Heights Road- Bellingham, WA (Fall 2024)
Completed a geotechnical/geologic hazard assessment and stormwater management plan for residential
redevelopment including a new driveway, parking area, multiple large structures, and a septic system.
Designed a cost effective and minimally intrusive stormwater management system despite restricted
space, large areas of impervious surface, and poor drainage conditions. Coordinated work with landscape
architects, general contractors, and structural engineers.
