SUBJECT: SPECIAL SERIES: Jefferson County Historical Society re: Cultural Heritage
STATEMENT OF ISSUE:
Objective 6.A.of the County's Strategic Plan calls for the celebration of the culture,heritage and
diversity in Jefferson County through events and programming. The Commissioners approved an
agreement with the JCHS to provide the cultural heritage lecture series on June 23,2025.
ANALYSIS:
JCHS will continue this series on August 25, 2025, with an overview of their collection of over
600+oral histories. JCHS will share some examples of people and communities represented in
the collection, how folks can access transcripts or listen to the recordings, and how oral histories
can be used in research.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Agreement previously approved in the amount of$1,200 for 2025.
RECOMMENDATION:
Listen to the cultural heritage presentation and participate in discussion.
