The Sierra Club North Olympic Group has joined Clean Water Action (cleanwater.org <https://click.emails.sierraclub.org/?qs=ac6306e55577c0a98fa92b4e48b185226e4aae19f39247b6e84a503ae5d96137d4c23bdfca
99b23b97405d085088ad4ef3e39295dd7b876a> ) to spend August mobilizing against the PERMIT Act (what we are calling the "Permission to Pollute" Act). It's one of the biggest attacks on
the Clean Water Act in decades and includes more than 20 anti-clean water provisions.
We are still anticipating that the U.S. House of Representatives will vote on the PERMIT Act (H.R. 3898) when they return from August recess. If it passes, the bill could then be
taken up in the Senate.
The “Permission to Pollute Act” removes the Environmental Protection Agency’s authority to block dangerous projects, limits the rights of states and tribes to protect their own waters,
shields polluters from being held accountable, and opens the door to unchecked pollution. This bill undermines the Clean Water Act and puts polluter profits ahead of reducing water
pollution and protecting health and the environment.
Please urge others to tell their U.S. Representative to vote NO on H.R. 3898.
