California, Oregon and Washington Form Health Alliance Amid Federal Vaccine Tensions
U.S. states of California, Oregon and Washington said on Wednesday they have launched a new health alliance to provide unified vaccine recommendations amid growing tensions over federal
immunization policies and public health directives.
Under the West Coast Health Alliance, the states said they will make joint recommendations on who should receive vaccines, informed by national medical associations even if they diverge
from federal guidance.

Eastern Whatcom County Wildfire Growing Quickly, Structures Threatened
A wildfire burning out of control in the North Cascades of eastern Whatcom County has grown to more than 600 acres and is threatening buildings. In a report issued Monday morning, the
National Interagency Fire Center said the Perry Fire is above Ross Lake in the North Cascades National Park. It is burning in timber about 16 miles northeast of Newhalem.

The Clark County Council signed off on support for enacting a 0.1% local sales tax, authorized under state law. The revenue source, a councilmatic sales tax increase approved through

Proposal Would Restrict Immigration Agents’ Access to Firefighters
Federal immigration agents would be kept out of areas where firefighters are battling wildfires, under a local ordinance just introduced by Thurston County Commissioner Wayne Fournier.
This comes after U.S. Border Patrol agents arrested two firefighters who they said were in the country illegally and forced 42 other firefighters to leave the Bear Gulch wildfire. The
federal government canceled contracts with the companies they worked for following a criminal investigation.

As the development of a new state rule that could impact timber tax revenue moves forward, Lewis County commissioners have officially come out against the new rule over concerns with
the rule-making process and potential impacts.
