Friends, neighbors —
Last week I returned to D.C. as Congress reconvened after the August District Work Period. From calling out Republican hypocrisy in committee hearings to connecting with so many of you
at town halls and community events, it was a busy and meaningful week. Here are a few highlights:
Sequim Town Hall Recap
Thank you to everyone who attended our town hall in Sequim this past weekend! Hearing your stories and concerns is one of the most important parts of my job — it helps me bring your
voices back to the other Washington, and work with my colleagues for solutions. We have an upcoming town hall in Elma on Wednesday, September 24 at 6PM (doors open at 5:15PM). Please

Back in DC, Working Hard for WA06
Last week, I returned to Washington D.C. to vote on a slate of bills and protect the needs of my neighbors. As we get closer to the September 30 federal funding deadline, the Republican
majority continues to prioritize putting partisan bills on the floor that gut the federal agencies that our communities rely on. I introduced amendments to protect funding for critical
Department of Energy programs that support the incredible work of the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory campus in Sequim, but Republicans blocked consideration of my amendments
which is why I ultimately voted against the bill. While Republicans continue pushing proposals that would strip programs vital to the American people, my Democratic colleagues and I
are working to stop those efforts and protect services families rely on.
Energy Affordability for All
In my first Natural Resources Subcommittee hearing since the recess, I questioned an official from the Trump Administration about how Washingtonians would be impacted by the many cuts
to clean energy and utility bill assistance programs – and to no one’s surprise, they refused to acknowledge the impacts that our neighbors back home have spoken to me about. Cutting
the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) is cruel, stripping funding that helps families literally keep their lights on. My message to the administration was clear: you
can’t claim to care about energy affordability while cutting the very programs that make it possible for low income families to pay their bills.
Once Again… Release the Epstein Files!
As a member of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, I remain focused on ensuring that our government acts in ways that prioritize the interests and well-being of the
American people. As elected officials, we owe it to our neighbors to serve as leaders who uphold the highest standards of accountability, transparency, and legal compliance — and that
is why I signed the discharge petition to force a full vote of the House to release the Epstein files. The government's handling of the Jeffrey Epstein case has been shrouded in secrecy,
denying justice and closure to the many young survivors who suffered unimaginable abuse. The public deserves full transparency and I hope my Republican colleagues will do right by the
American people and release the files – anything less would make them complicit in the administration’s coverup.
Hey Batter Batter!
On Sunday, I had the chance to attend the Rainers game with my pup and throw the first pitch! Even though the team didn’t come away with the win, it was such a joy to spend the day with
my community and cheer on our local baseball franchise.
Upcoming This Week in DC
This week, I’ll be participating in multiple hearings in the Natural Resources Committee, the Oversight Committee, and meetings with neighbors and community members. I’ll be closing
the week by speaking to members of the Human Rights Campaign, as we continue our work towards equal protections for all.
