Tunnel Creek Fire Update
QUILCENE, Wash., September 19, 2025 — Infrared operations occurred last night and mapped the Tunnel Creek Fire at 397 acres. Fire behavior was moderate for most of Thursday, September
18th due to an inversion of smoke that stayed above the fire area. The inversion prevented aircraft from dropping buckets of water on the fire and additional reconnaissance.
This afternoon the inversion is lifting which allows for more active fire behavior and smoke production. Residents and visitors may notice an increase in smoke, especially in the Hood
Canal area.
Day time relative humidities are expected to rise over the next couple of days with precipitation forecasted over the weekend. These weather factors will lessen fire activity but sustained
rainfall over a longer period is needed to fully extinguish the fire.
