Updates DCD STAFF AND DIRECTOR UPDATES 1. Commissioner Koan worked to get the Wi-Fi router upgraded so we have better service in the WSU Classroom now. 2. Thank you to those who sent in their reasons for volunteering to serve as Planning Commissioner, these were included in our District 3 outreach materials. 3. PHMPR-Notice of Public Hearing on the Preliminary Plat Application - This hearing will occur on October 15th with possible continuation on 16th and 17th. PC Vacancies – 3 applicants have been received for District 1. We have yet to have received applications for District 3. 5. Critical Areas Ordinance - Prosecuting Attorney’s Office review is complete. There were substantial comments from the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office requiring further consideration. PUBLIC COMMENT – GENERAL Note - regular agenda items may include public comment periods intended for that specific topic during the meeting. If you wish to provide public comment via Zoom, click on the hand icon at the bottom of the screen to “raise your hand.” The public comment period is managed by the Chair. TRANSMITTED INFORMATION 1. 09/17 Planning Commission Meeting Agenda REGULAR BUSINESS AGENDA ITEM DESCRIPTIONS 1. Nominations and possible elections for Chair and Vice Chair positions. a. Section 4, Bylaws – Officers: Officers of the Planning Commission shall be chair and vice chair. Candidates for chair and vice chair shall be nominated from the floor annually at the first regular meeting in September from among its active members. Nominations require no “second”. The election shall take place at the next scheduled meeting unless two-thirds (2/3) of active members vote at the nominating meeting to hold the election at the same meeting. Nominations from the floor can also take place at the second/election meeting (if held). 2. Planning Commissioner Required Trainings a. Synopsis: Brief review of training locations, requirements, and deadline. 3. Overview presentation on proposed UDC amendments. a. Synopsis: UDC amendments are required by legislative updates to the Growth Management Act. This presentation will broadly discuss our responses to those requirements. No action to be taken. 4. Initial Planning Commission and Board Retreat Planning Synopsis: Due to our current work, the retreat will be planned for early next year. DCD would like to begin identifying training needs and retreat topics. Task: Review 2025 PC work; take open government training required by County, and Short Course on Local Planning before retreat.
