Dear Mr. Stewart:
We are so pleased that the proposed Jefferson County Shoreline Master Program includes language
that would prohibit all mining and mining-related activities beyond those already allowed on the Hood
Canal. Residents of every county bordering the Hood Canal have a huge stake in protecting its
health and preventing industrial development along its shores. Hood Canal is already in trouble, and
we must do all we can to prevent further harm.
We commend all involved for the open, forward-looking way the review process has been conducted.
Thank you for accepting comments from the larger community of stakeholders surrounding the Hood
Canal.
