A tremendous amount of careful and thoughtful work has gone into Jefferson County's SMP
Update. There have been many opportunities for public input and workable compromises have
been achieved.
I encourage DOE to accept this Update as submitted. It will improve protection of our
County's shorelines for future generations while accommodating current needs. I am concerned
that further modifications at this point will delay adoption and diminish the Program's
effectiveness.
