Hiring the PTC’s first executive director brings us one big step closer to making the generational changes necessary to sustain and grow the Olympic Discovery Trail (ODT). With Ann on board, we also take one more step toward realizing our four strategic goals: 1. Ensuring PTC’s organizational health, resilience, and sustainability; 2. Deepening our engagement with community members and leaders about the ODT’s value; 3. Establishing a safe and accessible trail for current and future generations; 4. Supporting regional trail planning and construction; Since 1988 when the PTC was incorporated to build, maintain, and advocate for the Olympic Discovery Trail (ODT), the goal of connecting Port Townsend to La Push by way of a non-motorized, pedestrian pathway has seen the completion of over 90 miles of trail. As of this writing, an additional 4 miles of trail are being completed in Jefferson County connecting the Larry Scott Trail to Anderson Lake. Check out our Facebook Page for construction updates on this trail. <https://olympicdiscoverytrail.us21.list-manage.com/track/click?u=862004159972503fe35fefc93&id=b7b48 4766e&e=2f0c4aec92> Over the years and through relationships with many regional and national trail building partners, the ODT has become a part of a national vision—the cross-country Great American Rail Trail, connecting Washington, DC, to La Push, Washington. As our ODT trail network continues to grow, the regional trail vision has also grown to include connection to the Sound to Olympics Trail on the Kitsap Peninsula with the two combined trails referred to as the Puget Sound to Pacific Trail (PS2P). The new regional connections make the trail system more valuable for everyone, transforming the ODT into a powerful economic engine on the North Olympic Peninsula. As we work toward these goals this fall, I would like to again ask you to renew your support of the PTC today. Would you consider making a gift today to support the Peninsula Trails Coalition’s capacity building efforts in 2025 in the amount of $50, $100, $250, or even $1,000? A gift of whatever amount you can afford at this time will go a long way to building the intergenerational organization we need to support and grow the Olympic Discovery Trail network.
