SUBJECT: RESOLUTION:Cancelation of unclaimed warrants exceeding one year
STATEMENT OF ISSUE: The Treasurer's office requests approval of a resolution canceling
a total of 36 outstanding claims warrants and one (1) payroll warrants exceeding one year from
the date of issuance.
ANALYSIS: Warrants of any municipal corporation not presented within one year of issue
shall be canceled by the passage of a resolution of the governing body per RCW 63.30.040
(10)and (11)list one year as the abandonment period for claims, wages, and payroll checks.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Upon cancelation of warrants,funds are credited to the issuing fund.
RECOMMENDATION:
Approve resolution as presented.

In the Matter of Cancelation }
of Unclaimed Warrants } RESOLUTION NO.
WHEREAS, pursuant to RCW 39.56.040, Registered or interest bearing warrants of any
municipal corporation not presented within one year of the date of their call, or other warrants
not presented within one year of their issue, shall be canceled by passage of a resolution of the
governing body of the municipal corporation, and upon notice of the passage of such resolution
the auditor of the municipal corporation and the treasurer of the municipal corporation shall
transfer all records of such warrants so as to leave the funds as if such warrants had never been
drawn.; and
WHEREAS,pursuant to RCW 63.30.040(10) Property held by a government or governmental
subdivision, agency, or instrumentality, including municipal bond interest and unredeemed
principal under the administration of a paying agent or indenture trustee, one year after the
property becomes distributable; and
WHEREAS,pursuant to RCW 63.30.040(11) Wages, commissions, or bonuses to which an
employee is entitled, or other compensation for personal services, one year after the amount
becomes payable; and
WHEREAS,the warrants included in the attached list"Exhibit A" includes uncashed accounts
payable warrants and county payroll abandoned per RCW 63.40.040;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Jefferson County Board of County
Commissioners, that the warrants specified in the attached list"Exhibit A" be canceled in
compliance with the above noted RCW; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the County Auditor and Treasurer shall cancel all record of
such warrants so as to leave the funds as if such warrant had never been drawn.
