Jeff,
A little background on how I was involved in this program. I was President of Kitsap Audubon here in Kitsap
County, WA, at that time with over 700 members, when all the things started with the "Pit to Pier" problems in
Jefferson County.
Kitsap Audubon was very involved in this as we felt it was detrimental to the Kitsap County Shoreline and the
drinking water qualilty in Kitsap County.
I do hope that your Department of Ecology will ban all mining related activities from the shoreline of the Hood
Canal and other shorelines throughout the State of Washington. I feel very strongly about this and hope that we
never have another problem like this in the future.
I was unable to attend the April 20th meeting at Fort Worden.
