Dear friend,
If you’re reading this, our government has officially been shut down thanks to Republicans. I introduced a bill to keep the government open AND address the looming health care crisis—but
Republicans are hell-bent on keeping their over $1 trillion cuts to health care that they enacted through the passage of their Big Ugly Bill. They’re full steam ahead on their plan
to gut Medicaid and sabotage the Affordable Care Act. Hospitals across our state are already laying off staff as a result, and our rural hospitals are particularly at risk of total
closure. What’s more is that because of Republican inaction, premiums are set to skyrocket across the country. NBC reported on one family here in Washington state that’s been paying
$278/month but next year it could be as much as $1,800 per month—friends, that’s outrageous and it will drive families to the brink.
So I have been firm that we need to keep government open AND address the Republican-created health care crisis.
In these critical next days, I am determined to share the stories of the people I represent who are counting on Congress to save their health care. I am determined to take these stories
and spotlight them right here in the Senate so that Republicans can’t turn away from the health care crisis they are creating.
That’s where you come in, friend. Are you facing higher premiums next year due to Republican inaction here in Congress? Are you a nurse or health care worker who is seeing firsthand
how your place of work is reducing services in response to the GOP health care cuts? Do you have a story to share about this health care crisis that you feel is important to share?
If yes, I’m respectfully asking anyone who is willing to share their health care story with my office to speak up.

Your voice matters and it’s powerful. Donald Trump knows his health care cuts are painfully unpopular—people lives and livelihoods are on the line. Prices for everything are skyrocketing,
this is no time to let health care costs explode as well. Congress must take action to repeal the cuts, lower your costs, and save your health care—that’s exactly what I’m fighting
to do.
