(ECY) Subject:Addendum to previous Email Categories:LASMP Public Comment Forgot to include my address. Dear Mr. Stewart: I am writing this to inform you of my opposition to the current Shoreline Master Plan update. For brevity I will restrict my comments primarily to the 150 foot setback requirement The Planning Commission after many meetings and deliberations released a proposed draft update which provided for a 50 foot setback. It then went to the Jefferson County Department of Community Development (DCD) where a new draft was released with a 150 foot setback requirement. At the public hearing of the new draft, about two thirds of those speaking recommended a return to the 50 foot requirement. These pleas fell on deaf ears at the DCD, resulting in a draft being sent to the County Commissioners still with the 150 foot setback, which they approved. Public meetings and hearings did nothing to move anyone in a position of power. This requirement is not supported by any science or data that would be able to quantify any problem caused by near shore building or any benefit from not allowing it. I strongly urge you to not approve the plan as submitted by Jefferson County. Sincerely, Thomas J. Seavoy 634 Schwartz Rd Nordland, WA 98358 1
