Cristina,
I contacted Don Coleman from Pleasant Harbor Marina to learn the status of the Tunicate monitoring
in the marina. He responded with the history and planned monitoring schedule below. I understand that
the attempt made by the Skokomish divers to eradicate the invasive species was unsuccessful and that
this monitoring plan was adopted.

Tunicate Monitoring Schedule:
March 2007 survey by volunteer REEF (Reef Environmental Education Foundation). Styela Clava found
on A and D docks
2009 Skokomish Tribe divers harvested Styela Clava, as much as possible on, all docks
Determined little value in annual survey because populations fluctuate annually and seasonally.
Determined a 15 year schedule to observe populations on A and D dock to represent overall existence or
population
J and K docks were replaced with new construction, spring of 2023.
Next scheduled survey will be summer of 2024 and along with A and D dock K dock will be inspected. (K
dock is at extreme northern and deepest side of marina from A dock that is at extreme southern and
shallowest end of marina.
Survey will be conducted on specified 2-meter plots, one on A-dock slip #6, D-dock at end tie, and F dock
at end tie. Survey will include observation of population of invasive species listed in invasive tunicate
monitoring agreement.
