(ECY) Subject:Jefferson County Shoreline Master Program Categories:LASMP Public Comment Dear Mr. Stewart, We write to strongly support the draft Jefferson County Shoreline Master Program and to urge its approval. For over three decades, Hood Canal and its shoreline have been listed as being of "National Significance," by the Federal Government, recognizing its uniqueness as a relatively pristine body of water worthy of preservation and protection from commercial development. Thousands of people in Kitsap, Jefferson, and Mason counties have worked hard and successfully over the years to preserve a natural marine environment that is so rare, including preventing fish farms and other despoiling commercial activities from being established. In addition, the majority of small and large property owners in the three county area as well as the US Navy and Rep. Norm Dicks have recently expressed their opposition to shoreline use for industrial mining activities. We very much appreciate all the efforts the DOE and other committees and agencies have put in to creating the above SMP. Sincerely, Drs. Tom and Margo Wyckoff 1
