RE: The Locally Approved Jefferson County Shoreline Master Program
I am a citizen of Jefferson County, and I support the Shoreline Master Program adopted by the
Jefferson County Board of Commissioners. I have Multiple Sclerosis and am confined to a
motorized wheel chair. I very much enjoy the out of doors and particularly appreciate our
wonderful shoreline. I know that all shorelines are not available to me, but the thought of
citizens being cut off from shoreline access because all the uplands are in private ownership is
appalling to me. They need to open for everyone.
I know many of my friends worked hard to craft the Shoreline Master Program that reflects
sound ecological principles and science. For those people who contest the SMP because
they say there has been no harm done just haven’t lived here long enough to see the impact
for themselves as I have.
Please approve the Jefferson County Shoreline Master Plan as approved by the Jefferson
County Board of Commissioners.
