Port Townsend, Washington- This is a reminder that second installment property taxes are due this month. Mailed payments must be postmarked, put in a drop box, or paid online by October
31st to avoid penalty and interest charges. Taxpayers who would like a receipt should include their email address to have a receipt emailed to them, or they must include a self-addressed
stamped envelope with their payment to receive a hard copy receipt mailed to them.

Taxes may be paid as follows:
* Mailed payments must be postmarked by October 31st to avoid additional charges. Taxpayers should include the statement coupon 2 or write their property tax account number on their
check or money order.
* Online with credit, debit or echecks using Jefferson County’s online payment service. Payments may be made online at http://www.co.jefferson.wa.us/337/Online-Property-Tax-Assessment-Payments
or by phone 1-877-812-8072. Instructions for electronic payments are on the back of the tax statement and on the Jefferson County Treasurer’s webpage. http://www.co.jefferson.wa.us/329/Treasurer;
* The service provider charges a 2.5% fee with $2.00 minimum for credit card payments and a flat fee of $3.95 for payment with Visa Debit.
* Electronic checks may be used to make payments with a $2.00 service fee charged by the provider.
* Drop boxes in Jefferson County for payment by check through October 31st:
* Courthouse rear parking lot
* Port Townsend 1st Security Bank of Washington
* Port Hadlock 1st Security Bank of Washington
* Port Ludlow Sound Community Bank
* In-person at the Treasurer’s Office at the Jefferson County Courthouse Monday – Friday 8:30 am – 4:30 pm.

Housing counseling and legal assistance may be available at little or no cost to property owners. If you would like help determining opportunities to resolve delinquency and avoid foreclosure,
you may contact the statewide homeownership hotline at 1-877-894-HOME (4663).
Senior citizens and disabled persons may contact the Assessor’s Office at (360) 385-9105 to determine if they qualify for a property tax exemption on their owner-occupied residence.
You must be 61 years old on December 31st of the year in which you apply or be fully disabled, and household income must be $45,000 or less. (RCW 84.36.381). Online information is provided
