HomeMy WebLinkAboutM072225 CSCRegular Meeting Minutes Jefferson County Civil Service Commission Tuesday July 22, 2025, 2:00 p.m. Jefferson County Courthouse – Commissioners’ Chambers 1820 Jefferson Street, Port Townsend, WA 98368 Hybrid meeting: Virtual and In-Person Members Dan Taylor Chair Bob Gebo Member Mark McCauley Member Sarah Melancon Chief Examiner Kristen Bennett Secretary Call to Order: Chairman Taylor called the meeting to order called the meeting to order at 2:00 p.m. in the presence of Member Bob Gebo, Member Mark McCauley, Chief Examiner Sarah Melancon, Sheriff Andy Pernsteiner, Secretary Kristen Bennett, and Lindsay Gonzalez. Public Comment: No comments received. Approval of Minutes: Member Gebo Motioned to approve the meeting Minutes from June 24, 2025, as presented. Chairman Taylor seconded the Motion. The Motion carried. New Business: 1. Welcome Member Mark McCauley 2. Appointment of Chairman for 2025: Member Gebo nominated Member Taylor for the position of Chair. Member McCauley seconded the Motion. Chairman Taylor abstained from the vote. Chairman Taylor was reappointed as Commission Chair. 3. Discussion regarding the revision of testing procedures for the Support Services Technician position: Chief Examiner Melancon provided an update on the revision of the Support Services testing process. Based on research findings, incorporating an oral board and a skills-based assessment aligns with Civil Service Rules and is expected to help attract more qualified candidates. Member McCauley moved to approve the proposed revisions to the previous testing procedures. Member Gebo seconded the Motion. The Motion carried. 4. Discussion on the Proposed Addition of an Administrative Specialist Position: Sheriff Pernsteiner presented a detailed briefing on the upcoming Administrative Specialist position to be established within the Sheriff’s Department. Member Gebo moves to accept position. Member McCauley seconds the Motion. Chair Taylor agrees and the Motion carried.
