King County Councilmember Urges Accountability For Drivers of Oversized Loads After 3rd Bridge Strike in Two Months
King County Council Vice Chair Reagan Dunn is calling for stronger measures to prevent bridge strikes across Washington, including the creation of a so-called "Stupid Motorist Law" aimed
at holding drivers of oversized loads accountable.
Dunn cited a growing pattern of oversized-vehicle strikes, including recent incidents on SR 167 near Pacific and the I-90 overpass near Cle Elum. He asked WSDOT to conduct a comprehensive
review of the causes behind such collisions and to support efforts to improve signage and detection systems statewide.

Yakima County Voters to Consider Cannabis Ban on the Ballot
Voters will have the chance to weigh in on the future of cannabis in unincorporated Yakima County in November. The county has had a formal ban on the growing, processing and sale of
cannabis since 2014.
Proponents of the ban have stressed concerns around youth access and substance use, while opponents say lifting the ban would help generate additional revenue for the county and provide
better tools for regulation.
Proposition 1 is a non-binding advisory vote, meaning a decision will still ultimately fall to county commissioners about whether to maintain the county’s cannabis ban. A yes vote on
the proposition supports keeping the ban. A no vote supports allowing cannabis businesses to operate.
