Since the initial large changes to our County's Solid Waste Fee Structure in January of 2024, almost 2 years ago, I have been involved and volunteered numerous hours watching recordings
of every SWAC and BoCC meeting regarding Solid Waste multiple times to educate myself and better understand the challenges facing the Solid Waste Program. With the help of my ever
so patient wife, I have put together two pages to help put all the programs and options offered to residential customers on a level field to help illustrate the fiscal impact of recent
changes and the fiscal impact of maintaining the existing recycling subsidy. I would like to continue to advocate for the importance of our current recycling program as the most cost
effective waste diversion tool available and the importance of county-run centralized drop-off sites for the rural parts of Jefferson County.
Just a friendly reminder, ending the recycling subsidy will make Jefferson County the first county in the surrounding area to not have free recycling drop-off locations.
I hope you all find this useful and I am happy to answer any questions, if any arise.
Thanks,
Jim Friedman
