Hello Commissioners,
I want to bring to your attention that our Sheriffs Department is hosting a Facebook page that is grievously in violation of the county social media guidelines. There does not appear
to be proper monitoring of comments or enforcement of social media guidelines. Statements encouraging violence and vigilante actions remain on the page in response to the JCSO most
recent posting. Why would the JCSO allow comments when it could be prevented by turning comments off? This is just one example of how poorly this page is managed.
I have attached screenshots but I encourage you to review the page for yourself. I do not believe it reflects well on our county or the professionalism we should expect from the Sheriffs
Department.
I have asked the Sheriff to address this issue and he has refused. I believe the way this Facebook page is managed is potentially harmful to Jefferson County.
