They will also discuss the multiple multi-use trails that parallel the Larry Scott Trail and the Olympic Discovery Trail. Connecting our Trail Towns (Port Ludlow, Quilcene, Chimacum, Port Hadlock) to the Olympic Discovery Trail from the Hood Canal Bridge to Discovery Bay is a priority. Updated every ten years, it helps the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) and partners focus on species and places that need extra care. Part of a national effort, SWAP encourages everyone—from local governments to community groups—to work together to protect the wild beauty that makes Washington home. The deadline to give feedback is November 16, 2025. The webpage with their survey is here. <https://olympicdiscoverytrail.us21.list-manage.com/track/click?u=862004159972503fe35fefc93&id=7e58497567&e= d7954f414c> Trail Projects & Maintenance in Clallam County The Trails Advisory Committee assists Clallam County in addressing trail and non-motorized transportation issues and needs, particularly related to the Olympic Discovery Trail (ODT) and the Olympic Adventure Trail (OAT). Forks to La Push Segment Environmental reviews are nearly done, but progress is paused while Department of Natural Resources (DNR) reviews habitat concerns for Marbled Murrelets and Spotted Owls. Discussions continue, with Washington Department of Transportation (WSDOT) right-of-way being explored as a backup route. Maintenance & Volunteer Work Crews spent the summer mowing, repairing, and improving tread along the ODT and OAT. Volunteers replaced a crib wall, cleared brush, and built a temporary bridge at Bear Creek - finished just in time for the GOAT run. Emergency Access Fire and law enforcement agencies have updated keys and access info for trail emergencies. The 5K and 10K will be an out-and-back on the Olympic Discovery Trail. It's beautiful in Blyn at this time of year with the festive lights!
