(ESC) is pleased to present this letter in response to a request from the Jefferson County Department of Community Development. ESC staff have previously worked on the site while employed by others. An ESC representative visited the subject property on May 23, 2012 and met with you. ESC reviewed the following documents for the generation of this letter: • Preliminary Geologic Assessment of Slope Stability by ALKAI Consultants, dated September 10, 2004. • Retaining Wall Assessment Letter by ALKAI Consultants, dated June 26, 2005. • Building Plans by Adrian Bratcher Drafting Service, dated May 27, 2011. At the time of the May 23, 2012 site visit, the single-family residence (SFR) was in the final phases of construction, as was a storage structure. Access to the site is by an ascending gravel driveway off of Holland Drive. The subject property (Lot 35) is the only lot currently under development of the three lots addressed in the 2004 ALKAI report. The SFR was measured at approximately 22 feet from the top of the front (east) descending slope. The northwest corner of the SFR was approximately 12 feet from the top of a I.5H:1.0V (horizontal to vertical ratio) descending slope ranging from 15 to 25 feet in height. There was no visible erosion or sloughing observed on either of the slope faces at the time of the site visit. Several discharge points from roof gutters were noted around the perimeter of the SFR. It is our understanding that the roof drains discharge into an infiltration trench located off of the west side of the SFR. The infiltration trench was designed by Zenovic& Associates. The exposed areas of the slopes indicate dense to very dense glacial till and there was no visible evidence of significant erosion or sloughing observed on the slopes at the time of the site visit. Limitations We have prepared this letter based on standard practices, currently used in this area at the time of preparation. The conclusions are based on the observations made during the site visit. A subsurface exploration program was not requested or conducted. The information presented in this letter was collected and interpreted in a manner consistent with the level of care and skill ordinarily exercised by members of the profession currently practicing under similar conditions.
