Please reconsider any budget cuts to the Port Townsend Community Center. The Zumba classes that are offered at the Community Center provide a huge contribution to my life and fitness,
and to so many others. It gets me out the house, and I not only come into Port Townsend to exercise, I also bring dollars into the town that I would otherwise not spend or spend elsewhere.
It is a vital part of my life and of all the participants in class. I'm sure you are aware there are countless studies about the benefits of socialization and exercise for aging adults.
Jefferson County is full of aging adults. It is the government's responsibility to support its members, not cut something that is so vital and economically affordable in these trying
times.
A community center should be the heart and center of any community... hence its name. The present condition of the community center is, at times, painful to witness. This community should
be INVESTING in the center, not cutting funding.
