I am writing because I recently discovered the community center is being cancelled. I understand that times are tough, and maybe it was a hard choice with no other options, but I felt
I should give my opinion.
Our community center has been underfunded and underutilized for some time now. It has multiple maintenance issues that would need to be addressed, but if they were it could be a valuable
part of our community. Neighboring towns have invested in their centers, and they are very popular, providing a wholesome area for a community to come together for activities.
I love Port Townsend. I wasn't born here, but when I visited I chose to move here and have my money help support this community. The bones of this town are so very solid. With our roads
and our community center crumbling I wonder where all the money is being spent? I'm not making a claim of corruption, but it seems those two things should be a priority.
