Dear Commissioners Heidi Eisenhour, Heather Dudley-Nollette and Greg Brotherton,
For almost three years, my wife and I have attended Zumba classes; 2-4 times per week at the Port Townsend Recreation Center. We have made many friends in these classes and enjoy a
strong sense of community — the classes are usually packed and always exciting and fun. Equally important, we consider the Zumba classes a critical part of our physical and mental
fitness. Studies abound showing the increased quality and span of life from regular exercise, especially when it incorporates learning, balance and coordination; all attributes of
the Zumba dance classes at the PT recreation center.
I have been made aware that budget cuts threaten the management, availability and/or cost of the Port Townsend Recreation Center for the Zumba classes and other activities.
The recreation center is one of the best parts of living in Jefferson County and is vital to the community. Please consider this you navigate the upcoming budget decisions!
