RE: Workshop—2026 Recommended Budget—General Fund
STATEMENT OF ISSUE:
The 2026 budget process has revealed a significant projected budget deficit for the county's General
Fund. Department-by-department efforts to reduce expenditures(and increase revenues)over the past
weeks have improved the budget outlook,yet difficult choices remain. A balanced budget for 2026 needs
to adopted by the Board of County Commissioners before the end of the year.
ANALYSIS:
The Finance Director will discuss the options, make recommendations, and ask the Board for guidance.
FISCAL IMPACT:
To be determined based on Board guidance.
RECOMMENDATION:
The Board participate in the workshop and work with staff to provide guidance that would move towards
a fiscally responsible adopted budget for FY2026.
