Hello Commissioners Eisenhour, Dudley-Nollette, and Brotherton,
I know that you will soon be voting on the Jefferson County budget cuts for 2026.
I would like to share my hope that the Rec Center Gym will stay open. It provides so many important benefits for residents of all ages, including youth sports, children's birthday parties,
Skate Night, Kaleidoscope Play & Learn, and last but not least... Zumba!
The Zumba classes there (Sunday through Friday) provide multiple positive experiences for community members of a wide range of ages. The benefits include health (in my opinion, it's
the most enjoyable challenging exercise EVER), joy, community, fun, and friendships. I have been attending Zumba classes there for four years, and the gym can accommodate dozens of
dancers. In one large class a few years ago, my rough count was about 60 participants.
I really appreciate the Rec Center and the excellent work of Samantha Miller and Chris Macklin in running its programs and events.
