Coordinated Entry Program Earns State Impact Award
The Coordinated Entry program funded by Chelan and Douglas counties was recognized last month with the state County Projects of Impact award for making a difference in the community.
Coordinated Entry is an access point for people who are experiencing homelessness or are at imminent risk of homelessness. The program, also known as the Homeless Housing Network, helps
connect people to resources like emergency shelters, transitional housing and permanent housing solutions.

Residents Asked to Stop Outdoor Burning as Cold Air, Wood Stoves Hit Air Quality
The Olympic Region Clean Air Agency is asking residents to limit outdoor burning this week as the air quality in parts of Thurston and Pierce counties fell outside the “good” category
on Monday. According to a December 1 news release from ORCAA, “the cold, calm weather that settled over Western Washington during Thanksgiving weekend” hasn’t let go of the region,
and “the winter conditions mean more folks are using their wood stoves for home heating.”

Skagit County Approves Interlocal Agreement for North Star Initiative
The Skagit County Board of Commissioners approved Tuesday an interlocal agreement with the cities of Anacortes, Burlington, Mount Vernon and Sedro-Woolley. The North Star initiative
is a coalition of county and city representatives, community leaders and organizations that work to address homelessness and behavioral health issues within Skagit County.

Thurston County Becomes First in Nation to be Accredited for Ultrasound in Ambulances
Thurston County announced it has installed ultrasound imaging equipment in all eight of its Medic One ambulances and successfully completed the rigorous training requirements to become
the first accredited ambulance ultrasound program in the United States. The Medic One program provides pre-hospital emergency medical services to the residents of Thurston County.

Commissioner Votes Against 2026 Budget as Last-Minute Cost Increases Force Lewis County to Rely on Reserves
Lewis County plans to use roughly $1.8 million in reserve funds for its 2026 budget after a split vote from the Lewis County commissioners approved a new budget without a standard 1%
tax increase.
The Lewis County Board of Commissioners approved the final version of the county’s 2026 budget — as well as its predicted property tax levy amounts — during two public hearings Monday
morning. The county will not take the 1% property tax revenue increase allowed by state law; however, it will take in additional revenue for an administrative tax refund and for new
construction in the county.

King County Health Department Reports Measles Exposure at SeaTac Airport
Public Health – Seattle & King County announced a person who has measles traveled through the airport earlier this month, creating a possible exposure risk. The health department said
that the adult had a connecting flight through the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport on Nov. 11 and again on November 17. The person is from out of state, and their vaccination status
is unknown.

Olympia’s Flock Cameras Will be Suspended, Interim Police Chief Says
The Olympia City Council’s study session on Tuesday was interrupted by members of the public during interim Police Chief Shelby Parker’s presentation on Flock automated license plate
reading cameras.
Parker began her presentation on Dec. 2 by stating she would be recommending the City Manager suspend use of the Flock program to “further examine the concerns raised by our community.”
However, she said Olympia’s Flock data is secure, and that the cameras have been helpful in dozens of cases since they were installed last year.
