Hello everyone,
I wanted to reach out and share my concerns about the possibility of closing the rec center. As someone who has lived in this community my whole life, this news makes me incredibly sad.
Over the years, our children have already lost so many opportunities and safe places to gather, and losing the rec center would be another major loss.
Youth sports are finally making a comeback, and the rec center plays a huge role in supporting that progress. Closing it would undo so much of the positive momentum we’re seeing. It’s
also important to note that closing the rec center would save less than 2% of the total deficit, which raises the question of whether the impact on our community is worth such a small
amount of financial relief.
In addition, the building itself hosts countless family events and celebrations my own family has been part of many of them. It’s a place that brings our community together.
I sincerely ask that you reconsider closing the rec center. It means more to this community than you may realize.
