Dear commissioners,
I’m writing this email with the hope that it will help influence decisions being made on current budget cuts due to the deficit the County is currently facing.
Our family lives in Port Townsend. I am a single mom with two kids aged 4 and a newborn. I rely on the use of the Port Townsend Recreation Center frequently as a warm, safe, local place
for my older child to play and meet up with friends. The staff we interact with are always helpful and kind. We often see other families and it has easily become a regular hang out
spot for them as well. Besides using the space for unstructured play, my older child attended playschool in the past and I intend to take my younger child. We have rented the rec center
for birthday parties and hope to continue to do so in the future.
Please don’t close this space that helps families in Port Townsend and our greater community have a place to play and feel welcome and supported.
