Dear Heather-
I’m writing to express my opposition to the proposed closure of the Rec Center.
Our family uses the Rec Center weekly, most often for family soccer. But it's far more than just soccer, it’s a rare multi-age space where kids, teens, and adults can be active, build
friendships, and feel connected in a safe environment. Especially amid life’s ups and downs, it offers kids a steady, supportive community.
We understand the town is facing significant budget challenges, but closing the Rec Center—especially heading into the dark winter months, when other facilities like HJ Carol are closed—would
leave a major gap in accessible community space.
As one of the few true “third spaces” for kids and families, the Rec Center is essential to our community’s health and wellbeing. Please reconsider the closure and explore alternative
solutions.
