Tomorrow is Giving Tuesday, and we hope that on this day or in the days to come, you will remember to include immigrants in your giving. In this time of upheaval, racial profiling and oppression of immigrants, our services and advocacy are more needed than ever, especially as we fear grant support for 2026 to be significantly less than in the past. Nevertheless, with hope, we’ve maintained our Center and existing programs while initiating or expanding other efforts in response to changing and increasing demands on the ground. This year we’ve: * Trained a Rapid Response Team to monitor and respond to ICE and Border Patrol sightings and enforcement actions. To report incidents, call 360-531-2958. * Held “Know Your Rights” workshops for congregations and many other groups. * Gave out >$75,000 in small grants to help immigrant families in need. * Increased access to immigration legal services on the Olympic Peninsula in partnership with Kitsap Immigrant Assistance Center, with quarterly free legal clinics and increased year-round access to trained, certified legal volunteers based in Pt. Townsend. * Helped families plan in case one of them is detained or deported. * Provided accompaniment and transportation with trained volunteers for ICE check-ins and court hearings. * Increased access to and subsidized culturally sensitive and language appropriate mental health care for immigrants in Jefferson and Clallam Counties * Formed a team that curates and publishes a weekly summary of the latest news likely to affect immigrants. Townsend and other institutions on behalf of immigrants. * Expanded immigrant representation to its highest majority so far on the JCIRA Board of Directors, so that action is considered and approved by those most affected.
