In this time of upheaval, racial profiling and oppression of immigrants, our services and advocacy are more needed than ever, especially as we are facing a significant reduction in grant support for 2026. We are proud of what we have achieved this year in hope, solidarity, and action, through the efforts of our staff, volunteers, and through generous donations and support from our community (YOU!). To report incidents, call 360-531-2958. ...Held multiple “Know Your Rights” workshops for congregations, organizations and other community members. ...Gave out more than $75,000 in small grants to help immigrant families and individuals in need. ...Increased access to immigration legal services on the Olympic Peninsula in partnership with Kitsap Immigrant Assistance Center, with quarterly free legal clinics, and increased year-round access to trained, certified legal volunteers based in Pt. Townsend. ...Worked with Jefferson and Clallam County families to prepare family separation plans and documents. ...Provided trained volunteer accompaniment and transportation to many ICE check-ins, court hearings, and appointments. ...Increased access to and subsidized, culturally sensitive, and language appropriate mental health care for immigrants in Jefferson and Clallam Counties. ...Formed a Policy and Legislation Team who curates and publishes a weekly summary of the latest news likely to affect immigrants. Those interested in working with legislation met there for the first time. Meeting frequently, we clarified the scope of our work, our mission as it relates to JCIRA, and the ways we shared resources with one another. We made the decision to divide our tracking by federal legislation, Washington state legislation, executive orders, proclamations and court challenges. A majority of the team are new volunteers to JCIRA and JCIRA is grateful for their hard work and dedication. We share the briefs through the policy newsletter in English and most recently in Spanish (email <mailto:jciracenter@gmail.com?subject=Sign%20up%20for %20policy%20updates> jciracenter@gmail.com <mailto:jciracenter@gmail.com?subject=Sign%20up%20for%20policy%20updates> to receive it!). Our latest endeavor is to create access points in the community that could benefit from this information. Las personas interesadas en trabajar con la legislación se reunieron allí por primera vez. Nos reunimos con frecuencia y aclaramos el alcance de nuestro trabajo, nuestra misión en relación con JCIRA y las formas en que compartimos recursos entre nosotros.
